ADAMA (Hebrew 'Admahl). - A city of the Pentapolis (q.v.), mentioned alongside Seboim, on the border of Canaan (Gen. 10:19). Its king, Shinar, joined a coalition with the other kings of the Pentapolis and was defeated in the Valley of Siddim by Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, assisted by three other kings (Gen. 14:1-9). ADAMA was destroyed, along with the other guilty cities, by the cataclysm that struck Sodom and Gomorrah, within whose "circle" it lay (Gen. 19:24; cf. Deut. 29:23; Hos. 11:8).
