AIGUANI (ANGUANI, ANGRIANI), MICHELE. — Distinguished Carmelite theologian of the 14th century, better known by the name “MICHELE DI BOLOGNA” because he was from Bologna. He studied in Paris, where for many years (1357 and 1397) he was a lecturer on the Sentences, and later doctor of the University of Bologna (1371) and provincial of the Bologna province (1375–79). Appointed by Urban VI as vicar general of the Order (1380), and reconfirmed in 1385, he was deposed by the same pope in 1386; in the following years he held the chair of Sacred Scripture at the University of Bologna, where he died on 16 November 1400.

(Alcalá 1524, Lyon 1581, 1588–89; 1603, 1610, 1651; Venice 1600–1602; 1608; Paris 1613, 1616; 1626); 3) *Dictionarium Sacrum* (2 vols., ms. 1652 Bibl. Univ. Bologna); 4) *Alphabetum theologicum* (ms. Coll. S. Alberto, Rome); 5) *Lectura, seu Catena in Psalmos* (Cologne 1480, 1483, 1487, 1554; Reutlingen 1488, 1494; Rouen 1504); 6) *In Psalmos poenitentiales lectura* (ms., formerly in Genoa at the ancient Carmelite convent); 7) *Tabula in libros Sententiarum* (ms. 1081, Avignon Mus. Calvet); 8) *Tractatus Conceptionis gloriosae Mariae* (ms. F. II, 21, Bibl. Mantova), and many other unpublished commentaries on Sacred Scripture.
