**ALBERT of Beham** (also called **Bohemus**) —
Energetic partisan of the papacy against the German emperors
and active promoter of monastic reform.
Born (c. 1180) from the Beham family (Bavaria),
he was an advocate in the Roman Curia (1210) and at Lyon (1244),
canon of Passau (1212), archdeacon of Lorch (1226).
He served as papal arbiter between Duke Otto of Bavaria
and the bishop of Freising (1237), and as executor (1239)
of the bull of excommunication against Frederick II. Priest (1244) and dean of the cathedral of Passau, he
retired there in 1250 and died there in 1260.
