**ALESANDRI** (or D'ALESSANDRO), ANTONIO. — Ascetical writer of the Conventual Franciscans, born in Pesco-pagano (Lucania) around 1625, died in Naples in 1662. A pupil at Rome of the College of St. Bonaventure, master of theology and regent in the principal studies of the Order, he later became provincial of Naples (1667). Esteemed for his learning, he served as consultant to the Holy Office in Naples. Preconized by Innocent XI as bishop of Tri-cario in 1662, he was not consecrated due to his sudden death. He left two spiritual works particularly appreciated: *Breve modo di fare l'Oratione mentale* (Naples 1630); and, posthumously, *Modo per giungere alla perfezione della vita spirituale* (ibid. 1674).
