ANNI BALDI da Latera, Flaminio. — Francesco, writer, b. at Latera (Viterbo) on 23 Nov. 1733, d. at Viterbo on 27 Feb. 1813. He entered the Order at Orte on 28 Jan. 1750, and devoted himself to studies so as to become lector general in philosophy (1758) and in theology (1764), which he taught at Viterbo and later at Rome. From 1791 to 1792 he served as definitor general, and from 1794 to 1797 he governed the Roman province as provincial. Owing to the Napoleonic suppression (1810) he withdrew to Viterbo, where he ended his days.
As a writer he was very active in the ecclesiastical-historical field, treating of the Way of the Cross, the indulgence of the Porziuncola, the Third Order and the stigmata of St Francis. His most notable works were: Manuale dei Frati Minori (Rome 1776); Ad Bullarium Franciscanum... Supplementum (Rome 1780); Compendio della Storia degli Ordini religiosi esistenti (4 vols., Rome 1790–91; 2nd ed., Naples 1796). He also edited the Breviarium O.F.M. (Rome 1785) and reprinted F. Horatius, Locorum catholicorum... libri VII (2 vols., Rome 1795).
