BASSOLLIS, Giovanni de. - Minorite theologian, probably born in Bassoles in France in the last decades of the 13th century, died 4 July 1333. He studied in Paris and was one of the favourite disciples of Scotus. A philosopher and theologian of great worth in the Scotist tradition, he taught at Reims (1313), Rouen and Malines (1322), earning the title of “doctor ornatissimus” or “ordinatissimus”.
Among his writings we recall: In IV librum Sent., composed at Reims in 1313 and first printed c. 1486 in Paris or Angers; In IV libros Sent., complete Sentences commentaries, printed in Paris in 1516-17 after revision by Oronzio Fine. His manuscripts include a Miscellanea and some Loci philosophici.
