BOTTARZO, LUIGI

Luigi BOTTARZO. — Musician, b. at Presina on 9 July 1845, d. at Padua on 29 Dec. 1924. Having lost his sight at the age of nine, he soon turned with success to sacred music. He was organist at the Institute for the Blind in Padua, where he had studied, at the Basilica of the Santo from 1872, and professor of organ at the Royal Musical Institute. He composed masses, motets, hymns, and organ pieces. He published with Oreste Ravanello the method *L'Organista di Chiesa* and other didactic works; he also edited organ works by ancient and modern authors.
