BOVETTINO DE' BOVETTINI (BOATINUS MANTUA-NUS)

BOVETTINO de' BOVETTINI (Boatinus Mantuanus). — Decretalist, born in Mantua in the first half of the 12th century, died in August 1300. He taught for 43 years in Padua. He is the author of a major commentary on the Decretals of Gregory IX, completed shortly after 1274, and, together with the Bolognese professor Ioannes Garsia, of another commentary on the Decretals of Gregory X, an work which appears to postdate 1279 (both remain unpublished).
