BUDKEWICZ, KONSTANTIN

BUDKEWICZ, KONSTANTIN. — Priest, born in 1867 in Livonia, died on 30 March 1923 in Petrograd. He studied at the metropolitan seminary of Mohilev and at the Ecclesiastical Academy of Petrograd. He later taught in Vitebsk and served as parish priest, dean, and vicar general at the church of St Catherine in Petrograd. Accused by the Bolsheviks, together with Archbishop Cieplak (q.v.) and fourteen other priests, of failing to register and surrender the church’s treasure, he was sentenced to death and executed on Good Friday 1923.
