COLLEGE OF THE VIRGINS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN. – Institute founded in 1610 at Cremona by the noblewoman Lucia Perotti under the guidance of Fr. Melina of the Society of Jesus, for the Christian instruction and education of young women, known as the “Conservatory.” There one lived a common life, though without solemn vows. Approved by the Holy See in 1947, it has spread little and today has only four houses with seventy-five religious.
