COLOBIUM (20J0565). - It is a long, tight tunic without sleeves. It is worn by the Saviour on the cross, as, for example, in the now almost destroyed painting in the cemetery of S. Valentino on the Flaminia (7th century);
in the painting in S. Maria Antiqua, at the latest from the year 741; in the oratory of John VII in S. Peter’s in the Vatican (705–707), as learned from a copy by G. Grimaldi in the underground of SS. John and Paul.
