ELA (Hebr. ‘Elah = “oak,” “terebinth”). — Name of several personages in the Old Testament, including a king of Israel who was slain after two years by the rebel Zimri (1 Kings 16:8–14) and a prince who was devoted (Gen. 36:41; 1 Chron. 1:52).
