new house, even adversities and contradictions, which threatened to stifle her work at its birth; but her constancy and full trust in God overcame them, and the institute began to flourish wonderfully, so that at her death it numbered 36 houses. She expended prodigious energy, humble in the divine favors she received, and soon attained the heroism of sanctity. She was beatified on 9 June 1940 and canonized on 23 April 1950.
