ENRICO di GORKUM (GORICKHEM). - Theologian, born ca. 1386, died in 1431 at Cologne. He first taught in Paris and then (1419-31) in Cologne. He is one of the principal representatives of Thomism in the struggle between the “libertists” and the Thomists at the University of Cologne, which intensified during his teaching years and which ended, largely through his efforts, with the preeminence of Thomism.
Principal works: Conclusiones in libros magistri Sententium (printed twice before 1489); Compendium Summae theologiae s. Thomae (printed ca. 1473); Tractatus consultatorii, i.e. a collection of treatises De divinis nominibus, De praedestinatione, De iusto bello, etc. (printed 1503).
