FERNEBACH, Konstantin. - German political figure. b. 1852 Jan. 18 in Wellington (Baden), d. 26 March 1926 in Freiburg im Br. Deputy of the Centre Party in the Diet of Baden, he served as president of the Diet itself. Elected to the Reichstag in 1903, he soon became one of the most prominent figures in the party. President of the Reichstag in 1918, he held the same office in the Weimar National Assembly, and played an important part in the preparatory work for the new German republican constitution. Reich Chancellor in June 1920, he took part in the conferences of Spa (July 1920) and London (May 1921). From late 1923 he headed the Centre Party parliamentary group in the Reichstag.
