FESTA, L. — A Catholic illustrated weekly. It began publication in Milan in 1923, at the initiative of the Compagnia di S. Paolo, under the literary direction of Giovanni Papini and the artistic direction of Guido Marussig.
It gained wide renown both for the collaboration of Italy’s finest literary figures (Giuliotti, Lisi, Gallarati Scotti, Angelini, Bargellini, Ada Negri, Linati, Allodoli, Cicognani, Casnati, etc.) and for its distinguished artistic presentation. It later moved to Bologna, then to Rome, and finally to Assisi, following the fortunes of its titular director, Don Carlo Rossi. It ceased publication in 1943. For a time it also issued Il Regno, a periodical review in installments notable for its rich artistic and literary content.
