FRANCISCAN MISSIONARIES OF ST. JOSEPH — They were founded by Mother Alice Ingham, and, at the insistence of Cardinal Vaughan, in 1874 they transferred to Mill Hill, where they work in close collaboration with the missionary fathers of the local Society.
They dedicate themselves to the education of youth and the care of the sick. Since 1885 they have been in the mission of northern Borneo; since 1891 in Holland and Ireland; they also have houses in the United States. In 1926 the congregation was aggregated to the Franciscan Order, and in 1930 it became of pontifical right. At present it has 37 houses with 314 religious.
