CESARE FRANCICOTTI, Venerable. — Theologian and preacher, born in Lucca on 3 July 1557, died there on 9 December 1627. Together with the Venerable GIOVANNI BATTISTA CIONI, he assisted ST JOHN LEONARDI in founding the Order of the Clerics Regular of the Mother of God.
Among his published works, the most important is *Pratiche di meditazione per avanti e dopo la S. Comunione*, which went through 16 reprints in the 17th century alone in Venice. He also published another notable work, *Apparecchio al sacro Cavallo*.
