FRATELLI DELLA MISERICORDIA DI MARIA AUSILIATRICE (Trier)
The Servant of God Peter Friedhofen founded in 1851 at Weitersburg, near Koblenz, a pious institute of lay religious for the care of the sick, including those with contagious diseases. The work soon attracted many vocations, and the institute spread throughout Germany and all of Europe.
On 27 May 1905 the Holy See granted the decree of praise; while the constitutions, temporarily approved in 1910, were adapted to the Code and definitively approved on 29 April 1916. In 1925 the Institute petitioned the Holy See to be named the Congregation of the Brothers of Mercy of Mary Help of Christians.
At present it has 35 houses with more than 50 professed brothers wearing the red habit.
FRATELLI DELLA PENITENZA DEL TERZO ORDINE DI SAN FRANCESCO
In 1866 Fr. Francesco Maria Clausade sought to restore the Regular Third Order in France and promote apostolic work in parishes, giving rise to this congregation of missionaries dedicated to missions among the faithful. He founded a house at Notre-Dame de la Drièche, near Albi (France). Approved by the Holy See in 1873, the Congregation currently has 6 houses with 52 brothers.
