GIOVANNI dell'ANNUNCIAZIONE (LLANES-CAMPONNES). - Discalced Carmelite theologian, born on 3 Nov. 1633 in Oviedo (Asturia) and died on 4 Aug. 1701 in Salamanca. He was professor and rector of the famous Salmanticense College, several times definitor general and proposed general of the Congregation of Spain (1694–1700).
He is credited with having put into a shorter and more precise form the *Cursus philosophicus Complutensis*, which De Wulf called an encyclopedic commentary on Thomism. He also continued the famous *Cursus Theologicus Salmanticensis*, which Fr. Antonio della Madre di Dio (d. 1637) had left unfinished after the fourth volume. Other works by him include: *Promptuario del Carmen* (Madrid 1698–99); *Carta pastoral a los Religiosos Descalzos* (ibid. 1695); *Carta pastoral para las monjas Carmelitas* (ibid. 1699).
