MARCELLINUS and PETER, Saints, Martyrs. — They were killed in Rome in 303 during the persecution of Diocletian. In the Martyrologium Hieronymianum they are commemorated on June 2 as buried in the cemetery ad duas lauros on the Via Labicana, where they are remembered by all the Itineraries of the 7th century. The Sacramentaries also mention them.
According to the Passio sancti Marcellini, a certain Artemius, with his wife Candida and their two sons, and four other persons, was accused before the prefect Culcianus; exposed to wild beasts and then to fire, they were finally beheaded and their bodies buried near Ossirino.
