MARCIUS, Saint. — Born of a noble Roman family that had emigrated to Constantinople at the beginning of the 5th century, he was piously educated and instructed. He enrolled in the clergy of that city and was ordained a priest with the office of general steward of the church. Upon the death of his parents, he devoted himself with greater zeal to the life of perfection, working for the construction of several churches in Constantinople and setting a splendid example of virtue. He was buried in the church of St. John the Baptist. Feast, among the Greeks and Latins, on January 10.
