A scholar of great merit, he published the Sermons of St Anthony of Padua and learned dissertations; but more renowned is the work whose first volume he published in Paris in 1689: Critica historico-chronologica in Annales ecclesiasticos cardinalis Baroni; the remaining three volumes were published by his nephew Francesco (b. 7 Sept. 1654 in Provence, d. 21 Jan. 1721), who had assisted him in the work. Francesco in turn published a Breviarium historico-cronologico-criticum on the deeds of the popes up to 1447, on the general councils and the ancient rites of the Church (Antwerp 1717–27 in 4 vols.), which was continued in two further volumes by his nephew Antonio together with others.
