POLIETTO, Saint, Martyr. — By the end of the 4th century, a church already stood over his tomb in Melitene in Armenia, and another was dedicated to him in Constantinople in the 5th century.

The Greeks celebrate his feast on January 9, while the Hieronymian Martyrology commemorates him on the 7th and the Roman Martyrology on February 13. He appears to have perished under Decius. The *Passio*, probably from the 5th century, is a reworking of an older homily but is interspersed with legendary elements.
