QUEENSTEDT, FRIEDRICH AUGUST.

- German geologist and mineralogist, born at Eisleben (Saxony) on 9 July 1809, died at Tübingen on 21 December 1889. Queenstedt concerned himself, among other things, with the study of the Swabian Jura.

In his works, there are certain indications of his religious faith: he attributes the formation and development of the inorganic and organic world to the creative and regulative action of God, and he notes and admires the correspondences between the Mosaic account and science (*Schöpfung der Erde und ihre Bevölkerung*, Stuttgart 1882, p. 8).
