QUODCUMQUE IN ORBE NEXIBUS RE- VINXERIS

«WHATEVER YOU SHALL BIND ON EARTH». - Hymn of Vespers and Matins on the feast of the Chair of St Peter.

It is a reworking of strophes 5 and 7 of the hymn *Felix per omnes festum mundi cardines*, attributed to Paulinus of Aquileia but revised by the correctors of Urban VII. The two feasts of the Chair of St Peter (18 January and 22 February) commemorate the supreme power conferred upon St Peter at Caesarea Philippi and the solemn words then spoken by Jesus, which are here paraphrased in a striking manner.
