TEODERICO (Τεοδορικο), ANTIPOPE. — Cardinal bishop of S. Rufina, elected after the death of the antipope Clement III (8 Sept. 1100) by the imperial faction and consecrated by night in St Peter’s.
From a fragmentary passage in the *Annales Beuvennes* (ed. G. H. Pertz, in MGH, *Scriptores*, II [1839], p. 250) he appears to have held a synod on 30 Sept. However, after 105 days of pontificate he was captured while on his way to the Emperor; taken to Rome, Paschal II confined him to the monastery of Cava dei Tirreni (late 1100–1101), where he took the monastic habit. He died in 1102 and his epitaph (whose authenticity is doubted by some) is still preserved in the abbey cemetery (*Τα Θεοδοίρις* in MGH, *Scriptores*, II [1839], p. 250).
