NICCOLÒ ACCIAIUOLI. — Cardinal, born in Florence in 1630, died in Rome in 1719. He studied at the seminary and the Collegio Romano, graduating in law. During the pontificate of Innocent X he was chamberlain, under Alexander VII commissioner of arms, and in 1667 became auditor general of the chamber. On 29 Nov. 1669 he was created, by Clement IX, cardinal deacon of SS. Cosma and Damiano. He was then sent as legate to Ferrara, where he remained for twelve years. From 1715 he was bishop of Ostia and dean of the Sacred College.
