ADAMO of MURMUTH. — English historian, b. 1274 or 1275, d. in 1347. He graduated in law at Oxford and around 1312 became one of the rectors of that university. He was entrusted with numerous and important assignments not only by the university but also by the archbishop of Canterbury and by the king himself. In 1321 he was appointed vicar general of the bishop of London and in 1325 obtained a prebend in the church of St. Paul. He wrote the *Chronicon* of his time, which includes events from the year 1303 to the year 1347.
