**AGOSTINO** of **SANTA MARIA**. - French Discalced Carmelite tertiary, missionary, born G. P. Bouleulop, in Paris on 31 May 1820, died at Magnumye on 21 May 1882. Ordained priest in 1843, he entered (1847) the Society of Foreign Missions and served as a missionary in Mysore (eastern India) until 1871. In that year he was attached to the Verapoly missions as a Discalced Carmelite tertiary and for many years taught Sanskrit, Tamil, and English in the seminaries of the indigenous Carmelite tertiaries. He died as rector of the seminary of those tertiaries, having published numerous works of various kinds in the Malayalam language or translations into it for the use of the indigenous people and students.
