ANSUNO da FORL. - Painter, first appears in Padua as a collaborator (1434-37) with Fra Filippo Lippi in the chapel of the Podestà, now destroyed. Later, in the Ovetari chapel (destroyed in 1944), he painted the frescoes: *The Preaching of St Christopher*; *Christopher Leaving the King*; *The Saint in the Service of the Devil*. The painting of A. retained Tuscan characteristics; and for this reason he occupies a singular place in the Paduan school, as a precursor, OPPIZZONI CARLO (v.), of Andrea Mantegna.
