ANSOVINO, VESCOVO DI CAMERINO, SANTO

ANSOVINUS, bishop of CAMERINO, saint. — The *Life* recounts that he was confessor to the emperor Ludovicus, that he accepted the episcopate on condition of being exempted from military service, which was then abusively imposed upon bishops, and that he governed the diocese of Camerino for 18 years. The episcopate of A. must be placed in the first half of the 9th century. His feast in the *Roman Martyrology* is fixed on March 13.
