ASSISIS, DIOCESE OF. - In the State of São Paulo (Brazil), a suffragan of São Paulo, erected on 30 November 1928 with thirteen parishes from the Diocese of Botucatu. The cathedral is dedicated to the Sacred Heart and to St. Francis of Assisi. Its territory is almost entirely surrounded by rivers. It has 27 parishes, 13 diocesan priests, and 14 religious priests.
