BACCII, PIETRO GIACOMO. - Aretine, priest of the Congregation of the Oratory in Rome, where he died in 1656. He is known for his Vita del b. Filippo Neri fiorentino, founder of the Congregation of the Oratory, compiled from the processes for his canonization, first printed by Brugiotti in Rome in 1622. It has remained the classic biography of St. Philip, faithfully reproducing his spirit; it has had over 140 reprints and translations into various languages.
