BOLOGI, ANDREA. — Sculptor, born in Carrara on 22 June 1606, died of plague in Naples in 1656; he was a pupil and collaborator of Tacca. He worked with Bernini in the Cappella Raimondi in S. Pietro in Montorio and on the monument to Countess Matilda in S. Pietro in Vaticano, where his most famous work is also located: the colossal statue of St. Helen in one of the niches of the piers supporting the dome. Also notable is his statue of the Virgin in Massa.
