BONAGUIDA of Arezzo. – Decretalist of the 13th century. He taught at Arezzo around 1255. He also appears to have practiced law profitably in Rome.
Not before 1263 did he compose his Summa introductoria super officio advocatioris in foro ecclesiastico (cf. A. Wunderlich, Anecdota quae ad processum civilem spectant, Göttingen 1841, pp. 132-345). He is the author of a Gemma seu Margarita containing specific questions derived from the Decretals and pertinent to practice, especially in matters of judicial procedure (S. Marion, in Tractatus plurimorum doctorum, Lyon 1519, pp. 31-69). To him is also attributed a Tractatus de dispensatioribus (published in Tractatus universi iuris, XIV, Venice 1584, pp. 173-75).
He does not seem, on chronological grounds, to be identifiable with the homonymous B. who, together with others, compiled the Decisiones antiquae of the Roman Rota, covering the years between 1372 and 1374, with additions of decisions from an earlier period.
