BONISIGNORI (MONSIGNORI), Girolamo. — A Veronese painter who lived in the second half of the 15th century. He was a pupil of Mantegna, to whom he remained faithful for almost his entire life; only in his final period did he approach Leonardo da Vinci, producing a copy of the Last Supper that was then highly admired. A Dominican friar, he worked extensively in the convents where he lived—in Mantua, Verona, and Milan, where he met Leonardo. — See Plate CX.
