BOURODIOISE, ADRIEN. - French priest, b. at Brou in 1584, d. in Paris in 1665, apostle and reformer of the clergy, for whom he founded in Paris in 1611 the "community," later to become the seminary of St-Nicolas du Chardonnet. His zeal and example contributed effectively to the multiplication in France of seminaries and parish schools, which are their seedbed. His doctrine on the greatness and duties of the priesthood is condensed in his pamphlet *L'idée d'un bon ecclésiastique ou les sentences chrétiennes et cléricales* (Le Puy 1658, often reprinted).
