CIAMPI, Lechenzio Vincenzo. — A musician from Piacenza, born in 1719, he studied in Piacenza with the maestro di cappella Rondini, moved to Naples (perhaps a pupil of Durante and S. Leo), then to Palermo and, in 1748, to London, Venice where he became master of the choirs at the conservatory of the Pio Ospedale degli Incurabili (a position later held, in 1726, by Baldassarre Galuppi), in 1752 to Paris and again to London and Venice in 1762. The date and place of his death are unknown.
He composed various notable works: *Bethulia liberata* (1747), *Christus a Matre quaesitus et in Calvario inventus* (1735), *Vexillum fidei* (1759), *Virgines prudentes et fatuae* (1760), *Modula Mira Sacra* (1757), masses, a *Te Deum*, a *Salve Regina*, as well as instrumental pieces, including 6 organ concertos found in the libraries of Berlin, Dresden, Vienna, and London.
