CIAMPI, Sebastiano. – Priest, born in Pistoia on 31 Oct. 1769, died in Florence on 14 Dec. 1847. Professor of ancient literatures at the University of Florence, later at that of Warsaw. His residence in Poland led him to study Polish culture and its relations with Italy: a subject on which he published many writings, especially noteworthy for the information they provide about Italian artists and scientists who lived in Poland.

Notable for ecclesiastical history is his Catalogo di manuscritti e stampati relativi alla storia politica militare ecclesiastica e letteraria del regno di Polonia raccolti in Italia negli anni 1823, 1824, e 1825 (Florence 1831).
