DORÉ (Arutaus), PIERRE. — French Dominican preacher and controversialist, born about 1500 in Orléans, died in Paris on 19 May 1569. He entered the Dominican order at Blois (Loir-et-Cher) at a very young age, and would later return there in 1545 as prior. He studied in Paris, became a doctor at the Sorbonne, and regent of the Studium of Saint-Jacques. He always enjoyed great friendships and favours.
Among his many ingenious apologetic and ascetic writings, the following deserve mention: *Anticlavin* containing two Catholic defences of the truth of the Holy Sacrament and the worthy Sacrifice of the Altar against certain false writings... (Paris 1551, 1568); *Les voies du Paradis enseignées par N. S. F. C. en son Evangelie* (Paris 1538-40; Lyons 1537-86).
