EUSTACHIO of Santa Maria. — Theologian and ascetical writer, son of Carlo Sebastiani, great-grandson of the celebrated Monsignor Sebastiani, born on 2 January 1681 in Rome, where he entered the Carmelite Order (1733).
A Discalced Carmelite, he died there on 17 March 1754. He held various offices both within his Order (provincial definitor in 1721, prior of the Convent of La Scala in 1724) and outside it, serving as qualificator of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, consultant to the Congregation of Rites, and censor of the Theological Academy.
