**DAUGHTERS OF THE IMMACULATE MARY** (Zacuzzym), - On 21 Nov. 1891 the Capuchin Fr. Onorato Kuzminski, with the approval of the local Ordinary, laid the foundations of this Congregation in Zakroczym (Russia), with the aim of remedying the deficiencies in morality and faith among the Catholics of the cities, and gave them the Rule of the Third Order of St Francis and special constitutions. But soon after the religious were expelled and took refuge in Warsaw, where they continued their activity. Due to various circumstances, only on 9 Feb. 1934 was the decree of praise and temporary approval of the constitutions obtained.
The special aim of the Institute is to promote good morals and faith among the inhabitants of the cities through schools of every kind for girls, workshops, boarding houses and even refuges for the elderly. The Institute is composed of choir sisters and lay sisters. In 1942 the sisters numbered 214 in 8 houses.
