**Daughters of Mary Scolopian Daughters of Mary** (Barcelona). - As early as 1829, in the dioceses of Gerona, Barcelona, and Vich, the Institute of the Daughters of Mary existed, which dedicated itself to the religious and civil education of girls according to the spirit of St. Joseph Calasanz. They were divided into teachers and workers. They were approved in 1860, and ten years later their constitutions were temporarily approved as well. The original title was later supplemented with the specification "Scolopian." The constitutions were definitively approved in 1887. In 1949, the Institute had 50 houses with 726 sisters.
