FRANCISCAN SISTERS OF THE HOLY FAMILY. — They were founded in Dubuque, Iowa (U.S.A.) in 1875 by Mother Saveria Termehr and other sisters of the Bethlehem Congregation of Herford in Germany, who had been forced to take refuge in the United States by the persecution of the *Kulturkampf* in Germany.

Approved by the Holy See in 1913, they had already been aggregated to the Order of Friars Minor since 1903. They currently possess 69 houses where 719 religious dedicate themselves to various works of apostolate and charity.
FRANCISCAN SISTERS OF THE HOLY FAMILY OF TRIER. — They were founded by Mother Elisabetta Koch (1815-99) in Eupen in 1839, but the first house was established in Aix-la-Chapelle on 13 June 1857, and this date is considered the origin of the Institute. Since 1923 the motherhouse has been in Mayen.
In addition to perpetual adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament, the sisters also dedicate themselves to the care of the sick in hospitals and at home. Since 1875 they have been in Belgium and since 1884 in the Netherlands. Divided into 3 provinces (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands), the Institute currently has 43 houses with 805 religious.
