GUGLIELMO da CABRIANO. – Jurist of the 12th century. Of Brescian origin, his name is rarely cited in full but almost always expressed by the abbreviation W. Glossator. Well known in his own time, he was probably, in the opinion of Sarti, Archbishop of Bologna.
Works attributed to G. include Glosses (manuscripts in Bamberg, Paris and Munich) and a Summa to the Digestum novum, mentioned by Pillio. Other writings, such as, for example, the Cases on the Institutes, commonly attributed to G., are considered inauthentic by modern criticism.
