QUARTO (Quartus, Κουζέφτος). - A Christian who, in Rom 16:23, greets the community in Rome from Corinth.
The name and its connection with this community suggest that he was a native of Rome, or at least a Latin. Cardinal adjectives were often used by the Romans as personal names; hence it is not entirely unfounded that Q. was the brother of Tertius, mentioned in Rom 16:22 as Paul’s amanuensis. He is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 3 November.
