Statistics of Causes Existing at the Sacred Congregation of Rites
The Sacred Congregation of Rites has published, since 1890, at regular intervals, the *Catalogus et status causarum beatificationis Servorum Dei et canonizationis Beatorum*. Below is a complete list with the number of causes recorded at each date:
1890, status as of 1 October: 152 causes;
1895, status as of 1 January: 215 causes;
1901, status as of 1 March: 287 causes;
1909, status as of 1 April: 321 causes;
1921, status as of 1 November: 328 causes;
1931, status as of 1 September: 551 causes.
Up to this year, only causes proceeding *non cultu* (i.e., through the ordinary process) are noted. Additionally:
1941, status as of 13 April: 764 causes.
The increase in numbers is partly due to the adopted criterion of also recording causes proceeding *viam cultus* (confirmation of cult).
