TEODORO BAR KÖN

TEODORO bar KÖN. — Nestorian writer of the 8th century, a native of Kaškar, not to be confused with Teodoro, bishop of Laššom.

He was probably a monk. The only surviving work of his is the *Liber scholiorum*, which contains eleven commentaries. Memoirs 1–5 comment on the Old Testament, and memoirs 7–9 on the New. The 6th contains a kind of introduction to the New Testament with many theological definitions. The others are apologetic in content, directed against heretics, Muslims, and pagans. The 11th provides very interesting information on the Manicheans and other Eastern sects. The Syriac text of the *Liber scholiorum* was published by Addai Scher in the *Corpus Script. Chr. Or.*, *Scr. Syri* (2nd series, LXV–LXVI, Paris 1910–12).
