TIERRADENTRO, APOSTOLIC PREFECTURE OF. — It is situated in the central part of the Colombian Cordillera, at a high altitude.

It was erected on May 13, 1921, with territory taken from the Archdiocese of Popayán, and is entrusted to the Lazarists, who had begun missionary work there in 1905. It covers an area of 2,000 square kilometers and has a population of about 36,000 inhabitants, all Catholic except for a few Protestants. Missionaries: 5; nuns: 16; catechists: 53; quasi-parishes: 3; primary stations: 2; secondary stations: 22; churches: 20; elementary schools: 45; dispensaries: 4.
